Features & Capabilities

What video formats does EncodeX support?

EncodeX supports a wide range of formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WebM, and more. It can handle various codecs including H.264, H.265 (HEVC), ProRes, and others through its FFmpeg-based processing pipeline.

What does "frame-accurate" mean?

Frame-accurate means that when you set an in-point or out-point on your timeline, EncodeX exports exactly those frames—not approximations. This precision is essential for professional workflows where even a single frame difference matters.

Can EncodeX handle 4K video?

Yes. EncodeX supports 4K and higher resolution video. For smooth playback of high-resolution content, the proxy workflow feature allows you to edit with lower-resolution previews while maintaining full-quality exports.

Does EncodeX fix video rotation?

Yes. EncodeX detects rotation metadata from smartphone and camera footage and applies the correct rotation during export, ensuring your videos play correctly on all devices and platforms.

Can I convert multiple files at once?

Yes. EncodeX includes batch export functionality, allowing you to queue multiple files for conversion using consistent settings.

Where can I download EncodeX?

How do I update EncodeX?

Updates are delivered automatically through the Microsoft Store. You can also manually check for updates in the Microsoft Store app.

Privacy & Data

Does EncodeX collect my data?

No. EncodeX does not collect personal data, telemetry, analytics, or device information. All video processing happens locally on your machine.

Are my videos uploaded anywhere?

No. EncodeX is an offline-first application. Your video files are never uploaded to any server. All processing occurs entirely on your local computer.

Does EncodeX use cloud services?

No. EncodeX operates independently of cloud services. This design ensures privacy, reliability, and consistent performance regardless of internet connectivity.

Troubleshooting

Why is preview playback slow or choppy?

Large or high-bitrate video files may require more processing power for smooth playback. Try using the proxy workflow feature, or ensure your files are stored on a fast SSD rather than an external or network drive.

Why does my export fail?

Common causes include:

  • Insufficient disk space for the output file
  • Source file is corrupted or incomplete
  • Output path is not writable
  • Antivirus software blocking the process

Try exporting a shorter clip first to verify your settings work correctly.

The video looks wrong after export

Check that your export settings match your intended use case. For web delivery, H.264 in MP4 is recommended. For editing, consider ProRes or DNxHR. Ensure rotation handling is enabled if working with smartphone footage.

Enterprise & Business

Can EncodeX be deployed via Intune?

Yes. EncodeX is distributed through the Microsoft Store, which integrates with Microsoft Intune for enterprise deployment, management, and updates.

Is there volume licensing available?

Microsoft Store apps support organizational licensing through Microsoft 365 and Intune. Contact your IT administrator for deployment options in your organization.
